"Party Zone" retrospective
FAIRGROUNDS- For more than a decade the lawn east of the pavilion has been known as the "partyzone" annually at the Gold Cup as Placerville Driver Dave Angus and company set up camp for the four day event.

Yesterday afternoon Dave and the Placerville Speedway gang completed construction of their own Gold Cup museum complete with a roof and front door. This project is a must see for campgoers with a series of photos depicting the many good times here at the cup.

"We’re having trouble getting people to come through the door, since last year it sprayed water," said Angus. "that’s not the case this time, we want people to visit."

Twins thwart A’s streak
MINNESOTA- All good things must come to an end.

For the first time since Aug. 12, the Oakland Athletics lost a baseball game on Friday night. The Twins defeated the A's 6-0 to end Oakland's American League record 20-game win streak.

Minnesota's Brad Radke threw a six-hit shutout, while Corey Koskie went 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs to propel the Twins offensively.

Taste of Chico Sunday
CHICO- For those race fans staying over on Saturday night more than 75 restraunts, breweries and wineries will be on hand in dowtown Chico Saturday for the annual "Taste of Chico 2002"

The tasty event will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Chico.Good eats and live music will be on hand for the event that draws some 10,000 visitors.

Tickets are available at the event rancgine from $11 to $23 depending on your choice of alcohol tasting or non-alchohol events.

Earnhardt wins Busch Race
RICHMOND- Dale Earnhardt Jr. was fast qualifier and led 190 of 250 laps to take home the hardware in the Funai 250 Friday night aboard his new co-owned Busch team.
