Welcome Fans!

CHICO, CA - On behalf of John Padjen Motorsports and Silver Dollar Speedway we welcome all of you the the 49th annual Gold Cup Race of Champions, also known as "the fastest four days in California."

Four big days of racing ar on tap here at the Silver Dollar Fairground which will transform into a small city of recreational vehicles over the next four days as fans from all parts of the nation unite for a sport that truly portrays the American spirit - winged spring car racing !

In addition to the racing many special events will be taking place during the off hours on the fairground through the week.

Tomorrow the annual Gold Cup Golf Tournament is on tap under the great promotion of Clyde Lamar. The Gold Cup Golf Tournament is always a big hit during this week of action in the north state and opening are still available. Anyone interested should see Clyde Lamar in the "garden court’ area of the campground or pick up an entry form at the novelty booth for further information.

On Friday night the annual Gold Cup Chili Feed and Bikini Contest will be on tap in the pavilion following the evening of racing. Tickets for this event can be purchased at the novelty booth and its an event that surely shouldn’t be missed.

Additional events taking place, Placerville Speedway promoter Alan Padjen will sponsor the annual Gold Cup BBQ Saturday afternoon in the "party zone" near the pavilion. This event is free to all the campers and fans on the fairgrounds and will be prepared by Placerville driver Dave Angus and company in the party zone located between the pit gate and the pavilion.

It’s all happening right here for the 49th Gold Cup. For information on all the happenings pick up a copy of the "Gold Cup Daily" available at the novelty booth daily by 2:00 p.m.

Once again this newsletter will be your source of happenings, race recaps and tidbits of information throughout the week during the running of this great fall classic.
