On behalf of the management and staff of John Padjen Motorsports and Silver Dollar Speedway we welcome all of you to the 48th annual running of the Gold Cup Race of Champions. For many of us the Silver Dollar Fairground will be our temporary real estate for the four days to come as we once again decorate the grounds with varied forms of camping equipment from half million dollar motor homes to the five dollar tent available at the local department store. Starting tonight, four big nights of racing are on tap beginning with the Pacific Sprint and Dirt Modified Cups tonight followed by three days of World of Outlaw sprint car action.

Hoosier Tires Civil War series here tonight
2000 race winner, champion Andy Forsberg leads series point standings

The Hoosier Racing Tires California Sprint Car Civil War Race Series swings back into action here tonight with the crown jewel event of the 13-race campaign, the 4th annual Pacific Sprint Cup Invitational at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. This annual event features the top 32-drivers in the current series point standings and boasts more than $50,000 in winnings and contingencies. In addition to inflated purse, tonight’s event officially opens California’s biggest week in open week racing, kicking off the 4-day long 48th Annual Gold Cup Race of Champions on the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds. Tomorrow, Friday and Saturday many of the Civil War competitors from tonight will return to action and test their skills against the nation’s top open wheel drivers, the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Tour.
