2001 Gold Cup scheduled one week earlier

CHICO, CA (09-15-00) - When an internet press release announced a televised World of Outlaws race during the second week of September in 2001 the result was cyber pandemonium on various race related message boards as many fans became concerned that this may be the final Gold Cup featuring the World of Outlaws.

Such is not the case and those assuming the worst can now rest assured as the dates for the 2001 Gold Cup Race of Champions have been adjusted to allow for the increasingly popular World of Outlaws television schedule.

Next year, this annual event will take place earlier than is seasons past with the Hoosier Tires Pacific Sprint Cup kicking things off on Wednesday, September 5. The World of Outlaws Sprint cars will race the three nights following with preliminary competition on Thursday and Friday nights followed by main events on Saturday night, September 8.
